Vote for Amber!

My daughter Amber has been selected as a finalist in the Lowe's Senior Class Award in softball.

The finalists were chosen from a list of 30 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete. These four primary areas of criteria include: classroom, community, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award has developed into the nation’s premier tribute to college seniors. The award, which launched in 2001 with college basketball, is now in its third year for softball.

The 2009 finalists include: Whitney Haller, Georgia Tech University; Lillian Hammond, University of Tennessee; Jenae Leles, University of Arizona; Jessica Mapes, Arizona State University; Stacey Nelson, University of Florida; Amber Patton, DePaul University; Missy Penna, Stanford University; Samantha Ricketts, University of Oklahoma; Brittany Rogers, University of Alabama; Tammy Williams, Northwestern University.

These 10 names will be placed on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award softball ballot for a nationwide vote beginning March 30 and concluding May 7. Fan balloting, available on the award’s official website http://www.seniorclassaward.com/?DB_OEM_ID=15600, will be combined with votes from coaches, media and sponsors to determine the recipient of the award.

“These outstanding student-athletes deserve recognition for their all-around achievements in the classroom, in the community and on the softball field,” said Bob Gfeller, Lowe’s senior vice president of marketing. “The Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award is dedicated to honoring individuals who are making an impact on others with their talents. Lowe’s commends each of these finalists, along with their respective coaches and universities.”

The 2009 award winner will be announced and presented with the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award trophy at the Opening Ceremonies of the NCAA Women’s College World Series on June 2nd in Oklahoma City, OK. The Lowe’s All-Senior All-America Team, based on final results of the balloting, will also be recognized.

So please vote for Amber today! You can vote once daily!

It's official...

Well, I can now say that it is official. We are gettin a Portuguese Water Dog puppy!!! WooHoo!!!

I am so excited and can't wait to meet this new bundle of fur and energy. We will be getting a new fence so the new puppy can run in the backyard.

We lost Lexie Lu, our Portuguese Water Dog, in August 2008. She was a huge part of our lives and we were devastated when she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. When she passed over the rainbow bridge, there was a huge void in our lives. For a long time, I would hear her in the house but she wasn't there, spooky I know!

So now we will be filling our lives once again with a bundle of joy......energy.......fur.......mischief.....LOL!!! I can't wait!!!

Have a great day!

Softball Game

Last night we traveled to Champaign/Urbana to watch my daughter, Amber, play softball at the University of Illinois. We were one of the first fans to arrive then family and friends started to arrive. Amber's High School Softball Coach came with his current softball team, they all were excited to see Amber play.

DePaul won 6-2 against the Illini and Amber had a single hit up the middle with an RBI. Her team is loaded with talent and I hope they make it to the World Series in Oklahoma City in May!

Amber's twin sister, Ashley, drove to the game from Charleston. On her way to the softball field, she stopped at David's Bridal and picked up a bridesmaid dress for a friends wedding in October. It is a beautiful dress! It is a pick up style in truffle(dark brown) with a light blue sash. Pretty!!!

Have a great day! I need to get moving and get something done around here!

Back from Spring Break

My daughter Ashley and I went on "Spring Break" last week. We traveled to Holmes Beach, Florida, and had a very relaxing stay at the beach.

We arrived back in Central Illinois late Saturday night and the weather has been much cooler than Florida.

I would love to be back in Florida......
