Amber's Senior Day...

Last Saturday, April 25th, was Amber's Senior Day for softball at DePaul University. I dreaded this day thinking it would be unbearably sad and I would cry big tears. I have to say, it was a wonderful day of ballgames and a banquet afterwards, which was fit for a king! Amber's softball coach, Eugene Lenti also celebrated his 1000th career win so really the banquet was for Coach Lenti and Amber and the 3 other Seniors.

Amber, Jackie, and Lauren acting silly!
Ashley and Amber, Ashley is Amber's twin sister! The whole family: Abby, Abby's husband, Carl, Ashley, Amber, Tim, and me.
Tim, Amber and me!

Coach Lenti is pictured below with the President of the University and the Athletic Director and the DePaul Softball team. The sign is framed and all the past and present softball players signed it at the Banquet!
So many wonderful comments and speeches were made about Coach Lenti and the Seniors. And, I did not cry once!! Maybe a little teary eyed at some parts but no big tears or ugly cries from me, no siree!! Amber's sisters, brother-in-law, aunts and uncles and friends were in attendance to help her celebrate her softball career. It was a fun day and evening!

I am so proud of Amber and her accomplishments! Just a reminder to keep voting for Amber for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.

A lot of happenings are coming our way. Amber's Senior Day is this Saturday at DePaul and after their games with Syracuse, they are going to be honoring Eugene Lenti's 1000th win and the 4 Seniors. I am sure it will be a very emotional day! Lots of friends and family will be there to help celebrate the end of Amber's college softball career. There is also a very nice article about Amber written by Graham Hays from ESPN.com so here is the link, take a look!

It's been awhile...

Well, it has been awhile since I last posted here. We have been busy traveling with Amber and the DePaul softball team.

Keep voting for Amber, she needs your vote everyday. http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/softball_2009/

We have traveled to Chicago, Notre Dame, and back to Chicago. Last weekend, DePaul played Univ. of South Florida in Chicago and DePaul won both games. We spent the night at Abby and Carl's townhome and went to church with them on Sunday morning. Their church is a Lutheran Church in Lockport and they had the most adorable puppet show at the end of the service. Abby told me that they are nationally acclaimed with their puppet shows and have won quite a lot of awards. It truly was the cutest! The theme of the puppet show was, "He Arose", with helium ballons that spelled out, He Arose, and a POP of confetti at the end of the show. Scared me half to death, but it was fun! The kids at the service loved it.

After church we went back to Abby and Carl's and by that time Amber and Ashley had arrived from the DePaul campus. We ate a late lunch of Zuppa Toscana Soup, Salad, Easter Ham, Hashbrown Casserole, Mashed Sweet Potatoes, and Asparagus with Hollandaise, Major YUM! Abby then made a dessert of Fresh Strawberries with glaze and cookies. We were all stuffed!

Tim and I left for home on Sunday afternoon and I checked my email. Their were new puppy pictures posted and I had to check them out.

Take a look, here they are:

They are adorable! I emailed a response back to the puppy owners and asked if we would be getting a male or female and if we could find out which puppy we would be getting. We are thinking of names! Hopefully, I will be getting a response soon!

The Obama's new puppy is adorable. Have you seen pictures of the new puppy yet? Tim wrote a letter to the Obama's when they started looking at dog breeds. He told them our story and how we came to have our Portuguese Water Dog, Lexie. (Ashley is very allergic to animals.) So we like to think that the Obama's chose the Portuguese Water Dog because of Tim's letter. Funny, HUH! Funny also for the fact that Tim the Republican wrote a letter to the Democratic new president-elect!!!

Enough for now, have a great day!

Back from Chicago

This past weekend we went to Chicago, the windy city, to see Amber play softball at DePaul University. We also visited with our other daughters, Ashley and Abby and Carl, Abby's Husband.

The DePaul Blue Demons won 3 of their 4 games this weekend. The game on Monday with Southern Utah, was canceled due to snow!!! SNOW on April 6th, who would have thought!!!

Tim and I stayed in a hotel in Lincoln Park, near DePaul. After the games on Sunday, we went out to eat with Amber's teammates and their parents. Good food and good friends, a great combination! After eating, Tim and I made our way back to the hotel and decided to rent a movie in our room. We rented TAKEN with Liam Neeson, and oh my, what a movie!!! I would recommend it, but not for the faint of heart!!

Monday's game was snowed out, so we drove to Lockport to eat breakfast with our oldest daughter, Abby. After breakfast and a short visit with Abby and her dog, Chief, we drove home. What a weekend. I need to rest up for next weekend....LOL.

Have a great day and remember to vote for Amber!!!!!
